Investing for Retirement

Waterbury, Vermont

Investing for retirement is one of the most essential yet daunting tasks many of us face on our financial path. Many people can be overwhelmed by this reality and often feel stuck. Whether you are just beginning or looking to switch into a new situation, committing to one step at a time can be helpful. Recently many Waterbury, Vermont residents have been coming to One Day In July at different stages of investing for retirement. Investors in both situations often discuss their challenges with evaluating the important differences between financial advisors and finding a great match. While we can’t speak for all financial firms, we can clearly outline how we work.

How We Work: Investing for Retirement

Fiduciaries
One Day In July financial advisors are fiduciaries. By law and our mission, we happily operate in the client’s best interest for the entire relationship. Not all advisors and firms are held to this standard.

Low Fees
Our fees are low and clear. Keeping service and investment fees low matters significantly as they can profoundly drag a client's overall returns as they compound.

Index Fund Investing
Our firm believes in diversified index fund investing as it allows investors to gain exposure to all of the companies in the index it tracks. An index fund is a group of companies that make up a market sector or asset class. It is extraordinarily difficult to beat the overall market by selecting individual stocks. Imagine trying to pick a needle in a haystack versus grabbing the whole haystack.

Carrie McDonnell is a Dartmouth College alumna and a financial advisor with One Day In July who shares her investing knowledge throughout Waterbury, VT and the surrounding towns. One of her investing for retirement thoughts is: "When investing in low fee index funds, the individual investor maximizes their share of market returns and minimizes the returns to Wall Street."

While these three concepts are key pillars of the firm, One Day In July also takes pride in being equipped to handle unique client situations. One step at a time, you can begin to solve your investing for retirement puzzle.

Schedule an initial meeting with Carrie McDonnell in person, via Zoom, or over the phone. Contact her at (802) 767-7665 or carrie.mcdonnell@onedayinjuly.com.
