Characteristics of One Day In July Portfolios

By Financial Advisor Hans Smith

Below is a short list of portfolio characteristics specific to current clients investing with One Day In July.

  • All Equity index funds that we utilize for clients consist of hundreds and sometimes thousands of individual stocks. In other words, each investment position that we typically recommend is heavily diversified.
  • The S&P 500 index fund is the largest investment holding for most of our clients. Stocks that are heavily weighted within this particular index fund include: Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA, United Health Group, Visa, Berkshire Hathaway, Procter & Gamble, Alphabet (Google), and Eli Lilly.
  • Equity index funds pay out dividends, generally on a quarterly basis towards the end of each quarter. Dividends are reinvested periodically or during rebalance points, increasing the number of shares that our clients own.
  • All bond index funds that clients own pay out interest, and generally, this happens on a monthly basis. The amount of interest bond indexes pay out has increased over the past few years, a product of interest rates moving higher across the entire bond yield curve.1
  • Index funds that we typically recommend distribute zero or close to zero capital gains per year. This is important because it saves you in taxes, and savings could be significant when compared against high-fee and/or high-turnover mutual funds, which many advisors sell to their clients.2
  • All index funds recommended by One Day In July have zero load charges, sales charges, or 12b-1 ongoing marketing fees. We believe investment fees and advisor compensation should be 100% transparent.
  • Charles Schwab is the custodian that we utilize as Independent Financial Advisors. One Day In July is not directly affiliated with Charles Schwab, instead, we utilize their advisory platform to manage client investment accounts.
  • Schwab produces all formal investment account statements and any relevant tax documents. Tax forms are typically available online by the end of January (1099-Rs) or approximately the third week in February (1099-Composites).

Every One Day In July investment portfolio is custom built with individual risk tolerance and financial goals in mind.
